Cochrane's Milk

Cochrane's has been Ottawa's milk provider for four generations, and remains in the traditional glass bottle. We had been familiar with Cochrane's Dairy for a few years before we began the store, and then met Floyd Cochrane at a Savour Ottawa meeting in 2008. The relationship from there just came naturally. We carry in the store, in the glass bottle:

Stirling Butter

The Stirling Creamery has been barrel churning butter since 1925, and has never wavered on their commitment to quality. Incidentally, Stirling is where Dave grew up, so there was really no choice in which butter was best. We carry only unsalted butter, as it is always easier to add salt yourself than take it out.

Mornington Butter

While searching for Ontario cheese producers, we came across Mornington goat dairy, and found butter! Goat butter is, if you can believe it, even more creamy and decadent than regular butter. Again, we are carrying only unsalted goat butter, and it's kept in our freezer.

Mapleton Yogurt

Suggested to us by one of our favourite organic farmers, Mapleton's yogurt is by far the best you'll ever taste. All of their yogurt is from their own herd of dairy cows, and processed in an OCIA certified plant right on their farm. So it never leaves until it's sealed! Certified organic, we carry their full fat (3.9%) yogurt, in plain and vanilla, 750 mL.

Pinehedge Farm Sour Cream

Made the old fashioned way, Pinehedge farm's sour cream is cultured, made from pasteurized but not homogenized cream. This is a product that was suggested by one of our customers as the best sour creams around, and we can't say anything different. We carry sour cream in 500g tubs.

Brum's All Natural Whipping Cream

Because the ingredients are just cream and milk. Brum's is a real cream, 35% fat, and the difference is amazing. We actually churn this into our homemade butters, and the buttermilk we get from churning goes into our turkey sausages. We carry Brum's whipping cream in 500mL containers.

Beking's Eggs

Beking's laying hens are among the best treated in the commercial egg business. They are roam free, and you can taste the difference. We carry large brown eggs, available by the dozen or half dozen.
